lyrics

They clipped my wings
Told me flying was dangerous
Made me scared of heights so I avoided high places
Birds fly people don'tDon't stare straight into the sky, the sun will blind your eyes the way it burns your skin
Keep your eyes on your work you don't belong up there
You belong on the earth they told me
Stories of Icarus and his wax wings
So I'd think they clipped mine to protect me
Told me I would fall if I tried to fly
But there was something about the sky
Something that called me to it's burning, burning in my chest
This longing in the brown of my skin tingling just beneath the surface making my hair stand on edge
They told me it was unruly, straightened it so it wouldn't respond to the sun's calling
But sometimes when I stretched in the morning I felt my wings itched
Like one day maybe my people could fly once
Like maybe my people could fly if they tripped off the edge of a cliff and instincts took over I hopped a fence felt like flying
Stood on the roof did a backflip off the edge felt like flying, like living
I got as close as I could to a ledge once but the stopped me
Medicated my quote "suicidal tendencies"
Told me wanting to get high was my way of trying to avoid the realities of my life
But the reality is, walking doesn't feel complete to me

Verse 1

If you have to ask who's the realest then it ain't you
Should have been a plumber all the shit I made it throug
hI got a couple homies I know could have made it too
I don't act self-righteous I know I'm the same as you
Pressures of the world had me plotting on suicide
Don't want to look weak to my girl so I don't confide
And really let her see all the pain I feel inside
Instead I duck and hide, what kind of man am I?
They tell you fake it til you make it But what's the point of that
You say you're changing the game, but where's the coin for that
You're talking murder like it cool, but ain't no coming back
We're already a target for being young and black
I hit up Karl and Gregg like get the camera, I got some new heat I want to drop
And when I hit the stage that night bet I nail it without the hammer
And that was just a good Thursday up in Atlanta
I wonder what's next for me
If I didn't have it yet it wasn't best for me
I hear I love you J cause you tell the best stories
Take me to another place and yet still floor me
But I just want to fly away

Chorus

Fly away, fly away, fly away yeah
I just want fly away, fly away
I just want to fly away, fly away, fly away yeah
I just want fly away, fly away
Fly away

And you don't stop
1, 2 y'all and you don't stop
The LxVE crew y'all, and you don't stop
It's A.J. and Jimmy Jones

Verse 2

Said I was brought up through the rocky trenches (right)
And I done seen some things I ain't impressed with (right)
And I got homies with some bad intentions
I hope and pray they change their way of thinking
Could you speak positive to your lost brother
Or would you kick him down just to tell another
If your son got killed would you let him die
Or tell the young voices keep the hope alive
Now fly your high to the highest type
And bless the ground when you had to fight
And shed blood just to keep the cool
Distant from you and your sickening rules
We come together yes We come together ayy

We come together ayy
U.N.I.T.Y together you and I
U.N.I.T.Y together you and I
U.N.I.T.Y together you and I
U.N.I.T.Y together you and I

U.N.I.T.Y together you and I
U.N.I.T.Y

Bridge
Storm cameShe stood in the rain, but the wind did not blow her away
Storm cameShe stood in the rain, but the wind did not blow her away
Storm cameShe stood in the rain, but the wind did not blow her away
Storm cameShe stood in the rain, but the wind did not blow her away
Storm cameShe stood in the rain, and the wind did not blow her away
