about

Alfred gifts us with a 2020 time capsule speaking on current events and injustices that need to be reconciled. An extension of his 2017 infamous record "Calm Down" which addressed police killings and systemic racism. Alfred puts a mirror up to America showing we still have more to change.

lyrics

Verse 1

There’s a war outside my window all I see is pain
Since Covid, I know it will never be the same
These masks ain’t all the government is covering
Helicopters hovering cause we don’t want to hashtag another name
Mad when I picket
Police see my head on the ground and wanna kick it
To say racism is dead ain’t realistic
Not to mention it’s backed by facts & statistics
You ain’t know, how could you miss it
George Floyd murdered it was one horrific scene
And I said that same line back in 2017
I told them to calm down guess they ain’t know what i mean
This the the same exact thing that made MLK have a dream
50 years later still waking up to this
Ain’t no rope around but we’re still getting lynched
The system ain’t broke, we could fix it in the day
The sad reality is that it was built to be this way

They said the same thing when my family a slave
All they did was legalize when they throw you in cage

Verse 2

If the system was broken then we could fix it in a day
But the forefathers made sure they built it this way
Now it might not be as blatant as the KKK
But it’s coded in our laws and the little things they say
Like the 13 amendment check the context
To the prison industrial complex
Judges throwing down their gavels and their gauntlets
So I give truth in these sonnets, dodge hail like comets
Some people still sleep like black queens in bonnets
Keep egging me on and I’ll make an omelet
Complain about the looters that’s been burning up the place
But no remorse for why it started in the first place
United we stand, divided we’ll fall
They take one us they’re gonn have to take us all
So you can keep complaining bout how we’re causing a ruckus
Let God judge us, now we want justice
